I have had the pleasure of meeting a most wonderful family who loves cake and loves celebrations-weddings it seems! I don’t think they intended it this way but everyone has been or is getting married in the span of a year! WOW! I met the first of these brides a couple of months ago following the Weddings the Bridal Show in August. She is beautiful, vibrant, and excited for her wedding. I can’t wait to do her cake this summer!
I was incredibly surprised and excited when her mother emailed me asking me to do her own wedding cake over Christmas. I couldn’t possibly turn her down. She wanted a simple and small tiered cake covered in snowflakes. I was thrilled to do it-I LOVE winter weddings!! It was a lovely sour cream almond cake with almond buttercream…the family favorite.
I then met an Aunt and Uncle who were planning a celebration for their daughter’s wedding. She had already been married in her most favorite setting-under the redwood trees in California, but they wanted to give her a shower type reception here in Hendersonville. Her bouquet had been made of ferns and wildflowers with large sunflowers as a focal point. It was just gorgeous! I was asked to make the cake keeping her wedding bouquet in mind.
I look forward to the next wedding and celebration cake I will do for this terrific family in the summer if not before. I have talked to a few of them enough we feel like family members already. A family that cakes together stays together!
