This past weekend I was honored to make Michelle and Matt’s wedding a little sweeter. Chelly and her mother Belinda met me in January to discuss details of her wedding cake. At that time she was a little unsure of what she wanted but was sure of the flavors. She absolutely loved the Sour Cream Almond cake and thought a spice cake with apple filling would be perfect for their fall wedding.
I sent several pictures and ideas to Michelle via email and she found a few of her own that sparked her attention. She loved square cakes and I noticed her favorites were all set askew. She loved classic designs and piping but seemed to prefer the more modern look of a twisted square cake. Chelly chose elements of several different cakes that she liked and I was able to put them all together for her in a style of her own. She purchased her topper online and while it was smaller than she was anticipating, she was very happy with the overall design.
Michelle and Matt were married at the Rose Mont in Gallatin. The Rose Mont is such a beautiful historic landmark I was thrilled to deliver a cake there. Earlene was very pleasant to work with in coordinating delivery times and it’s a vendor’s dream for ease of delivery areas. There are few steps and LOTS of doors that can be opened to any area we need to set up in! If you haven’t visited the Rose Mont, you should do so. Not only is it beautiful outside, but it is filled with history and completely furnished on the inside. The Rose Mont offers public tours from April through October for a very small fee and there are still a few weeks to enjoy a tour this year.
I had recommended that Michelle and Matt book my fun and friendly colleague Shannon Hairr for their photographer and was thrilled that they obliged. Shannon and Rusty were already at the scene when I arrived of course, making sure every detail had been photographed. Next time I will bring cake truffles to tide over that hard working Rusty Hairr.
It was a beautiful fall day with plenty of wind and I’m sure Belinda was relieved that she had used lanterns, hollowed pumpkins filled with mums and other heavy items as decorations to hold down the tablecloths outside. They looked terrific!
As I mentioned before, the cake was square and offset. The flavors were alternating tiers of Sour Cream Almond filled with Dark Chocolate Ganache and Harvest Spice Cake filled with Country Apple filling all enrobed with Dulce de Leche (Caramel) Buttercream. Yummy! Don’t you just love this cake plateau as well? The detail is gorgeous. It’s not mine but I fully intend to have one just like it soon!
