I have got to say I am so thrilled to tell you about this wedding! First of all, the bride began planning the wedding from Georgia and moved here to Hendersonville in the process. Charley and David have the cutest little boy that you’ve ever seen and he certainly keeps them on their toes. Charley is also in school and David is working so it was a feat to plan the wedding of her dreams but keep it on a strict budget. My friends, I am so impressed with what she pulled off, I couldn’t wait to brag about her!
Charley wanted everything to be decked out in pink and silver in a big way. She was so discouraged as she looked around for linens, chair covers, sashes, flowers, etc and found that it was so expensive! She watched Craigslist and the Hobby Lobby sales ads religiously until she found everything she wanted at a fraction of the cost. She did let me know that this wasn’t easy as she had a problem with one of the table linens and the company refused to do anything about it-not like working with a local company that would happily exchange something if there was a problem. Someone who decides to do their own flowers also has to have some talent so they look nice and Charley, with the help of her grandmother, pulled this off very well.
Charley and David were married in a late afternoon ceremony at Historic Rock Castle. They were married on the lawn and the weather threatened their moments time and again. They chose to hold the reception indoors at Country Hills Golf Club in Hendersonville and the rain was coming down on the way there. Moveable Feast catered the event and Sugarcreek Carriage Rentals provided a Cinderella coach.
Charley wanted a lot of flowers on the tables and balloons on the ceiling with silver glittery spheres hanging down. When she tried to find the spheres she was upset that the least expensive one was about $15 and she needed several. She went to Walmart and picked up several children’s balls in various sizes for minimal cost. She spray painted them silver and rolled them in lots of glitter. They hung those from the ceiling with fishing line and I must say I had no idea until she told me!
Charley wanted the pink and silver, along with flowers, to reflect heavily in her wedding cake. She had seen a design by my friend Vicky of Signature Cakes and asked if I could do something similar. I am happy to use a picture to create a design but I always want to change something to make it truly custom for the bride. It was a four mixed tier design separated by beautiful gumpaste flowers and wrapped with fondant ribbons painted silver with luster dust. She and David both liked the white cake with Almond Buttercream-a fan favorite!
Jeff and Katie Barker Photography captured the most amazing photos of the day-I hope they don’t mind you all taking a peek!
