I knew Amanda and Brandon were going to be a fun couple right from the start. I met Amanda and her mom at the Clarksville Bridal Show. Amanda already had her cake ideas picked out so when we scheduled a consultation it was to determine flavors and only alter designs slightly. She called before the consultation and asked if she could bring extra people-her dad and sister decided to show up as well.
That was a very memorable consultation! There were five of them talking about cake ideas, hunting, fishing, sports teams and colors. I had a great time with the entire family. Dad definitely had his favorite cake flavors and luckily Amanda agreed. She had her heart set on a four tier cake and he obliged. They had discussed getting a smaller tiered cake with sheet cakes in the back to save a little money…which is something that I will have to blog about later! Who do you decide gets the “good cake” and those who get a sheet cake? If I make them exactly the same then it will cost the same amount anyway…but as I stated, it’s another blog!
Amanda’s color was Tangerine. It’s a gorgeous color for a spring wedding! So bright and cheery! Her cake design had scrolls over its entirety. While I love white on white scrolling with the color emphasized with some beautiful gumpaste flowers, this was not Amanda’s vision. She did not want flowers on her cake and her mind became set on Tangerine scrolls. Lesson #1 in decorating…KEEP THE BRIDE HAPPY!!!
Brandon’s cake was to be a sheetcake with half Vols and half Colts…a tribute to Peyton <sigh>. I was unsure how this was REALLY going to look but I liked the end result. Brandon’s cake was chocolate as is typical with many groom’s cakes. Amanda also asked if the honeymoon cake could be chocolate as it is his favorite.
Amanda’s cake was Butter cake, Traditional Wedding White, and a top layer of Chocolate covered with Traditional Vanilla Buttercream. She did not want any fillings as she likes her cake plain. It’s very delicious that way I must say. I really loved the end results of Amanda’s cake vision as well-an incredible custom design!
Amanda and Brandon were married at the Olivet Freewill Baptist Church in Clarksville-a terrific place hidden from the main roads. The large reception site next door to the church held their reception. I have never met so many wonderful and helpful people as I was setting up the cake. I was also THRILLED to see the whole family, including the bride, before the wedding. As I’ve stated before, I don’t always get to see the bride on her special day. Amanda literally squealed with delight when she saw her cake-music to my ears!
The weather was perfect, the bride was radiant, and the cake was divine-a bride’s dream come true!
Amanda and Brandon, may your life together be filled with sunshine and may your dreams together always come true!
