Nita and Kenneth were married on July 17, another HOT day, but their reception was close by at Bluegrass Country Club in Hendersonville, TN. Not only do I love the Bluegrass for the terrific staff, but also because it’s so close to home.
Nita met with me back in October-wow that seems so long ago now! She had a very strong idea already in mind and knew right away that her groom was going to have mini cheesecakes instead of a traditional southern groom’s cake. Nita loved fondant, draping, an all things elegant. Her colors were Champagne and Latte from David’s Bridal and she had taken a picture from a bridal show of just how she wanted drapes placed on her cake.
Nita loved the look of a mixed tier cake, with a larger size square on the bottom. Because she was having such a large wedding with over 200 guests, she could choose any design without much difficulty. Sometimes, when working with a smaller wedding, designs can be limited.
Nita chose a 5 tier design with different flavors for each tier. The largest tier was Sour Cream Almond, followed by Strawberry, Carrot, Chocolate, and Red Velvet. She was warned of course that with several flavors, her guests might be tempted to try more than one flavor and they did! She was happy to provide them with enough cake to do just that.
There were also 100 cheesecakes displayed with different toppings of Strawberry, Praline, Turtle, and plain with white chocolate pieces hand painted with the Steeler logo for the groom’s favorite football team. I was told later that Nita’s mom practically had to wrestle her sister for a taste of the chocolate cake and didn’t even get a bite of a cheesecake. When she met me to return the stand, I couldn’t resist but to give her the very last cheesecake in my leftover stash. It was hard to let it go but I’m glad I did! She was very appreciative.
Kudos go out to a few people as always…The Bluegrass provided a most excellent meal for the happy couple and their guests. Check this out-the Chef has the distinct honor of being the reigning Iron Chef Champion of the ClubCorp Greystone Culinary School in Napa Valley! I think that’s something to brag about-the food must be terrific! Fred Dishner of Three Trees Photos captured every moment of the event. Nita was such a pleasure to work with! I can only hope that I will be able to work for her again in the future.
Nita and Kenneth, may you live, laugh, love together forever and always!
