The first of January brought the end of the holidays and more weddings for 2011-WOOHOO!! I was blessed to meet Alyssa through Wedding 101 at the Factory at Franklin. Alyssa and her mom came in for a Tuesday Tasting back in August and we narrowed down what Alyssa liked best.
Alyssa brought in several cake photos with numerous ideas about the decorations on her cake. She wanted to add several elements without looking too busy. She preferred a classic round cake and knew she wanted to incorporate snowflakes in a small way. She loved the look of scrollwork and also quilting. We decided to alternate her tiers to incorporate both in her cake.
Alyssa wanted to showcase both her colors of black and teal so I suggested we add black fondant ribbons around the bottoms of the tiers with a small teal ribbon centered in the black. The couple chose flavors of Sour Cream Almond Cake, Spice Cake, and Strawberry, all enrobed with Vanilla Buttercream.
Alyssa and Lance held their reception at the Boxwood Bistro in Franklin. This place is absolutely amazing for a night out, a moderate sized reception or shower. They do an amazing job with the food and allow cakes or desserts to be brought in. The food is incredible, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the managers are on top of things at all times. Boxwood Bistro has food and drink specials and a rooftop area during nice weather. I highly recommend you check them out if you have not done so already.
Lance’s Groom cake was a delicious Red Velvet newspaper devoted to him. That is to him giving up his bachelor status for married life. It was a really cute idea they brought to me when we met. Lance thought it was really funny and I’m sure his guests agreed.
Alyssa and Lance, you brought in the New Year with a wedding…may you bring it in with love and devotion every year that follows!
